About Dr. Sarah Bovenberg

Originating from The Netherlands, Dr. Bovenberg is an alumnus of the prestigious Leiden University Medical School. Her scholarly pursuits and love for the American spirit led her to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar, immersing herself in cancer research through a PhD focusing on the role of gene therapy in cancer treatment at Harvard Medical School’s Tannous Lab.

 

She subsequently started her medical residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, leading to a Dermatology residency at the University of California, Davis, where she served as Chief Resident.

 

Driven by her profound interest in surgical procedures and cancer treatment, she subsequently completed the prestigious ACGME-accredited Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at The Methodist Hospital in Houston under the tutelage of the renowned Dr. Leonard H. Goldberg.

Over her career, Dr. Bovenberg has made substantial academic contributions, authoring numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in the field of dermatology and oncology, contributing to advancements in cancer diagnostics and treatment strategies. Her expertise lies in Mohs Micrographic surgery, aesthetic reconstruction, advanced dermatologic surgeries, including scar revision, and cosmetic dermatology.

 

As an expert in skin cancer surgery and aesthetic reconstruction after the removal of skin cancers, Dr. Bovenberg looks forward to serving the Las Vegas metropolitan area and beyond, balancing a deep clinical expertise with a genuine interest in the well-being of her patients. When she is not operating, Dr Bovenberg loves to travel and is an outdoor enthusiast. An active member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Bovenberg is excited to bring her particular set of skill to Las Vegas Dermatology®.
